Beach Outfits in the Fall – Knits and Booties

Ariana Mann

A trip down to Costa Mesa meant a photoshoot at the the Jetty in Newport Beach. With the temperature at a nice 75 degrees, I opted for a knit sleeveless dress by Sun and Shadows. Since returning back to school in October, I’ve become quite the bargain shopper. I found this cute olive number at Nordstrom Rack for under $20. Find it here.

Once the temperatures drop a few degrees, this dress would pair perfectly with a long sleeve turtleneck and either leggings or textured tights. When shopping in the Fall season off a sale rack, you want to make sure you have a way to wear the piece in colder weather. Luckily in Los Angeles, we have warm days even in the Winter so there’s always an opportunity to wear a sun dress. Even though that is the case, we want to maximize our wardrobe.

Some things to ask yourself when shopping off the sale rack in Fall:

1. Will I wear this next summer?

2. Is this a color I already have in my closet that I wear often?

3. Can I layer it to wear in the Fall/Winter seasons?

I paired the dress with these tan leather ankle booties by Sam Edelman. I love shoes by Sam Edelman, especially their boots. They are comfortable and pair nicely with different outfits.

I think a pair of tan booties are a great investment. As much as you can wear black with practically everything, the soft brown keeps a neutral palette which keeps the entire look cohesive. The ankle length is great since you can wear it with a lot of different styles. You can go for a more professional look or polish off a casual denim and t-shirt outfit.
