Oversized flannels are great because one, they’re cute, and two, they’re comfortable. Ayesha Curry, Stephan Curry’s wife recently tweeted that she likes to dress “Classy over trendy” and “Everyone’s into barely wearing clothes these days huh? Not my style. I like to keep the good stuff covered up for the one who matters”. While there are times we all want to look sexy, it isn’t required and there are plenty of other options. Not every outfit needs to be skin tight with all the goods showing so don’t think you ever have to dress like that. With the Kim Kardashians and Amber Roses in pop culture these days, it seems the curvy body with skin tight clothes, waist trainers and assets showing are all the trend. I don’t see anything wrong with that but personally, I like to mix up my style and always feel comfortable in whatever I’m wearing.
So back to the oversized flannel! When wearing any type of oversized shirt or sweater, you want to make sure the length is hitting you correctly. If it falls below the knee you’re going to look like you’re wearing a potato sack. Try a length you feel comfortable wearing that’s above the knee. If you’re self conscious about your thighs, wear tights or leggings.
For shoes, you have a variety of options but make sure what ever shoe you wear, they are fitted and far from slouchy. Since you have the oversized flannel on, everything else needs to look sharp to complete the look. I chose to go with all black timberlands that I just purchased on Black Friday. It was my only purchase for myself all weekend! Steer clear of sandals or heels as well. Your outfit should look and feel proportionate.
Go ahead and throw on a hat if you desire, bangles on your wrists or a statement necklace. Throw your hair in a sleek and sexy bun and slap on some big hoop earrings and red lipstick.
